We're TOR Coatings and HD Sharman approved specialists in industrial steel, cladding, and high-value property coatings, with manufacturer-backed warranties from 5 to 50 years. Based in Northampton, working across the Midlands.
Most coatings fail because of what's underneath them. Mill scale that wasn't removed. Cut-edge corrosion that was painted over. Powder coating that wasn't profiled. Failed substrate adhesion no topcoat can rescue.
At Develux we specify systems substrate-up. Laser cleaning, sandblasting, or mechanical preparation matched to the material. Primer, intermediate, and topcoat from TOR Coatings or HD Sharman. Documented dry film thickness. And a manufacturer-backed warranty that's enforceable because we followed the specification.
From the substrate up. Properly specified, properly applied, properly warranted.
Protective coating systems for commercial and industrial properties, designed to extend asset life and reduce long-term maintenance.
The reason coatings last. Right method for the right substrate, documented to industry standards.
For period and high-value properties where standard decorating won't preserve the asset.
Painters warrant their workmanship. We warrant the system, backed directly by the manufacturer, because we are approved applicators of TOR Coatings and HD Sharman systems.
Each warranty is tied to the actual specification applied: substrate condition, coating system, DFT, and environment. Enforceable terms in writing on every project.
A selection of recent projects. Full project details available on request.
Send us a photo of the asset, the location, and what you've been told. Initial response within 60 minutes. Full written specification within 5 days.
Cladding spraying restores faded, chalked, or corroded industrial cladding using manufacturer-backed coating systems applied by a CHAS Gold accredited contractor. Warranties up to 25 years, typically 15–30% of the cost of replacement.
We restore cladding on all common industrial and commercial systems:
| Replace | Recoat | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Baseline | 15-30% of replace cost |
| Duration | Weeks-months | 5-15 working days |
| Disruption | Major | Minimal (occupied OK) |
| Asset life | 30+ years | +15-20 years |
| Sustainability | Landfill | Zero waste |
Four steps. Documented. Warrantied.
Free assessment. Substrate condition, access requirements, environmental factors.
System chosen, primer, intermediate, topcoat, DFT, warranty length. In writing within 5 days.
Pressure wash, mechanical preparation, or laser cleaning matched to substrate condition.
Applied by certified operatives. DFT documented. Warranty certificate issued on sign-off.
Approved applicator status with both manufacturers means we issue genuine manufacturer warranties, not contractor-only guarantees. Colour-matched to any RAL, BS, or NCS shade.
Most cladding spraying projects fall between £15 and £60 per square metre installed, depending on the system applied and warranty length. Develux issues free site surveys and written specifications within 5 working days.
A typical industrial cladding project takes 5–15 working days depending on the size of the building and preparation required.
Develux issues manufacturer-backed warranties from 15 to 25 years on cladding systems, depending on the substrate condition and system specified by TOR Coatings or HD Sharman.
Yes. We work in occupied premises using methods appropriate to the environment, including out-of-hours scheduling where required.
Yes. We coat profiled metal, aluminium composite, UPVC, plastisol, PVF2 and polyester factory-applied finishes.
Send us your building details and we'll come back with a free survey and written specification within 5 working days.
Cut edge corrosion treatment seals rust spreading from the cut edges of profiled metal roof sheets, using HD Sharman Seamsil and Delcote systems to restore weatherproofing and extend roof life by 20+ years at a fraction of replacement cost.
Profiled metal roof and cladding sheets have a factory-applied coating system. When sheets are cut to size during installation, the cut edges expose bare metal underneath. Over 10-20 years, weather attacks these edges, rust spreads, capillary action draws water into laps, and the entire roof eventually fails.
Treated early, cut edge corrosion is reversed. Left untreated, it forces a full roof replacement at 5-10x the cost.
Final pricing depends on roof size, substrate condition, access, and warranty tier selected.
Cut edge corrosion is rust that starts at the exposed cut edges of profiled metal roof and cladding sheets, where the factory coating ends. Weather attacks the bare metal, rust spreads under the coating, and capillary action draws water into laps until the roof eventually fails.
Treatment typically runs £14–£22/m² for materials supply only, £28–£42/m² installed with a 15-year warranty, and £40–£90/m² installed for premium systems with a 20–25 year manufacturer-backed warranty.
Manufacturer-backed cut edge systems from HD Sharman are warranted for 15 to 25 years when applied to a properly prepared substrate by an approved applicator.
Yes, if it is caught before the substrate is structurally compromised. Loose rust is removed, a converter is applied, edges and laps are sealed, and a protective topcoat is applied. Severely degraded sheets need replacement before the system is applied.
Primarily HD Sharman Seamsil for cut edges and laps, HD Sharman Delcote for full roof restoration, and HD Sharman Plygene for gutter lining. All applied as an approved HD Sharman applicator.
Send us photos and the rough roof size. Free survey, written quote within 5 days.

Paint is decorative — it changes how a surface looks. A protective coating is an engineered system (primer, intermediate, topcoat) specified by the manufacturer to protect a substrate from corrosion, abrasion, fire or chemical attack for a defined service life, with a written warranty backing it.
Service life depends on the substrate and system. Industrial steel systems are typically warranted 15–25 years, gutter linings 25–50 years, intumescent fire protection 15+ years, and balcony deck systems 10–15 years.
Develux is an approved applicator for TOR Coatings and HD Sharman, and applies systems from Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine and other leading specialist manufacturers where the specification calls for them.
Yes — genuine manufacturer-backed warranties, not contractor-only guarantees. Warranty length depends on the system specified, the substrate condition and the documented preparation grade. Issued with the project sign-off pack.
Structural steel, profiled metal cladding and roofs, fire doors and roller shutters, loading bays, gutters, balcony decks, heritage metalwork, masonry and timber. Each substrate gets a system matched to its environment and expected service life.
Tell us about your asset. We'll specify the right system and warranty for your environment.
Industrial surface preparation by Develux covers abrasive blasting, laser cleaning, mechanical preparation, Peelaway chemical stripping and infrared paint removal, delivered to ISO 8501 cleanliness grades so manufacturer-backed coating warranties remain enforceable.
Non-abrasive, chemical-free. Removes rust, paint, oil, grease from metal, stone, and masonry. Heritage-safe and occupied-building-friendly.
For heavy corrosion and structural steel preparation. Documented to ISO 8501 Sa 2.5 or Sa 3 cleanliness grades.
Grinding, sanding, stripping. Controlled, low-impact work for sensitive environments.
Safe chemical paint removal from heritage substrates. No abrasive, no airborne dust.
Controlled paint removal using infrared. Used on period properties and listed work.
Epoxy resin repair systems for damaged or rotten timber elements.
| Substrate | Recommended method |
|---|---|
| New mild steel | Sandblasting (Sa 2.5) |
| Painted cladding | Pressure wash + mechanical |
| Heritage metalwork | Laser cleaning |
| Listed building stone | Laser cleaning |
| Period ironwork | Peelaway or laser |
| Occupied premises | Laser or infrared |
| Rotten timber | Epoxy resin repair |
Every manufacturer-backed warranty depends on the substrate being prepared to a specified cleanliness grade before coating. Sa 2.5 for steel. Sound substrate for masonry. Properly profiled metal for adhesion.
Painters skip this because it's expensive and time-consuming. We don't, because skipping it means the warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
Every preparation method we use is documented. ISO 8501 grades photographed. Substrate conditions logged. This is what makes the system warrantable.
Around 80% of coating failures originate in surface preparation, not the coating itself. Every manufacturer-backed warranty requires the substrate to be prepared to a specified cleanliness grade — ISO 8501 Sa 2.5 for steel, sound substrate for masonry — before any coating is applied. Skip the preparation and the warranty is void.
Laser cleaning is a non-abrasive, chemical-free preparation method that removes rust, paint, oil and contamination from metal, stone and masonry using a controlled laser beam. It produces no airborne dust and no waste media, which makes it ideal for heritage substrates, listed buildings and occupied premises.
Sandblasting is the standard preparation method for heavy corrosion and new structural steel, where ISO 8501 Sa 2.5 or Sa 3 cleanliness is required for a manufacturer-backed coating system. It's not appropriate for heritage stone, period ironwork or occupied buildings where dust control is a constraint.
For listed buildings and heritage substrates we use laser cleaning, Peelaway chemical systems or controlled infrared heat — all non-abrasive methods that protect the original substrate. Method is selected per element and documented before any coating is applied.
Particularly for heritage, listed, or occupied-building work. Send us the project details.
Develux is a specialist industrial painting contractor serving warehouses, factories, distribution centres and industrial units across the Midlands — with documented surface preparation, manufacturer-backed coating systems and 5–50 year warranties.
Industrial buildings aren't houses. The substrates are different, the failure modes are different, the warranty stakes are higher, and the access challenges are real.

Sandblasting and chemical strippers cause damage that can't be undone on listed and period substrates. Laser cleaning removes paint, rust, and contamination without touching the original fabric underneath.
It's also non-abrasive, chemical-free, and quiet, important on occupied properties and in residential areas.
This capability is rare in the Midlands. Most contractors outsource laser work or refuse it. We do it in-house.

Develux Ltd is a Northampton-based specialist contractor in protective coatings, cladding spraying and surface preparation, founded and led by Ghennadi Catansus. TOR Coatings and HD Sharman approved applicator, CHAS Gold accredited, working across the Midlands.
Develux Ltd was founded to do protective coatings properly. The industry is full of painters describing themselves as coatings contractors, but actual coating work requires manufacturer approval, documented preparation methods, and the discipline to walk away from work where standards can't be met.
Founded and led by Ghennadi Catansus, the company has built relationships with TOR Coatings and HD Sharman, two of the UK's leading specialist manufacturers, and holds CHAS Gold accreditation, the gold-standard supply-chain qualification for the construction industry.
We work primarily across the Midlands, with capacity for nationwide work on specialist industrial projects.
Ghennadi Catansus founded Develux Ltd to deliver protective coatings work to manufacturer specification, not to decorator standards. He leads every site survey, signs off every written specification, and is personally accountable for the warranty on every project the company issues.
His background is on the tools — applying coating systems on industrial buildings, listed metalwork, and high-value residential properties across the Midlands — before building Develux into a manufacturer-approved contractor.
Being clear about scope is part of doing the work properly.
Standard decorating in occupied homes. Not our specialism, not where our standards apply.
Touch-up work over failed substrate. Compromises any warranty we'd issue.
If the brief is cheapest quote at any quality, we're not the right contractor.
We're selective about projects, fast to respond, and serious about delivery.
The difference between repainting in 3 years and protecting an asset for 25. There's a 40-year cost gap between those two outcomes.
Every line in this table is documented in writing on every project we deliver.
| Attribute | Painter's quote | Develux system |
|---|---|---|
| Film thickness | 2-5 mils | 10-40+ mils |
| Surface preparation | Optional / light wash | Mandatory, documented to ISO 8501 |
| Warranty | Workmanship only | Manufacturer-backed, 5-50 years |
| Chemical resistance | Low | Engineered to environment |
| Substrate match | Generic | Specified per asset |
| Documentation | Invoice | Spec + DFT log + warranty cert |
| 20-year cost (estimated) | 3× repaint cycle | 1 system + 1 reseal |
80% of coating failures originate at the substrate, not the coat. Adhesion failures. Substrate corrosion. Improper cleanliness grades. Failed primer bonding.
A painter applies film on top of whatever's there. We strip the substrate down properly, neutralise corrosion, profile the surface, and only then apply primer.
This is why our warranties hold and theirs don't.
£15/m² painter quote repainted every 4 years over 20 years = £75/m² + 5 disruptions.
£45/m² Develux system warranted for 20 years = £45/m² + 1 disruption.
Even before the disruption cost, the system is 40% cheaper over the asset life. Including disruption, the gap is much larger.
Tell us about the asset. We'll come back with a real spec, not just a paint quote.
Manufacturer-backed, not workmanship-only. Enforceable because we follow the specification.
Yes. All Develux-issued warranties are tied to the asset, not the owner. When the building is sold or leased, the warranty transfers to the new owner provided maintenance has been followed.
This is one of the practical reasons facilities managers and property owners value our work, it adds to asset valuation.
Tell us about the project and we'll specify the warranty band that fits.
